Medical Mission Before Christmas!
Written by Sch. Jayson Labrador, MI

On December 13, Sunday, a few days before Christmas, almost a thousand people flocked to the St. Camillus Health Center in Cainta, Rizal to access the blessings of a medical mission conducted by the Center.  The mission started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Rolly Fernandez MI.

Right after the Mass over sixty volunteers, some equipped with medical backgrounds and others equipped with the willingness to help became busy. From the persons who was responsible in controlling the crowd up the doctors who check on the patients health complains are all busy doing their responsibilities as people continue to wait for their turn to be check by doctor.

At first the volunteers experience some problems but in the long run it all became smooth although out. The Medical mission took almost six hours. After lunch there were still people who were given a chance to be checked by the doctor.

To assess the activity of the whole day, after all the patients have been checked, given medicines and referred to other medical professionals, the whole team was called to gather for a short evaluation. The evaluation of the medical mission turned out to be excellent according to the observations of the volunteers. Of course after the painstaking yet enjoyable and meaningful mission the team had a simple snack and picture taking.

The medical mission was indeed a successful one. It did not only serve the needs of the sick for healthcare but it also showed to the people the true value of love for those who are in need.

The medical mission was conducted as a part of the Camillian taskforce’s continuous support for the victim of the flood brought about by typhoon Ondoy. Beneficiaries of the said mission are from that area and other nearby villages.

To all who helped in the medical mission in one way or the other to all who dedicated their time for it. Thanks a lot and God bless!
