Outing and Bon’s Baptism

At last, after months of waiting the community outing was held. The community grabbed the chance we had in Laguna as we attended the 25th Sacerdotal Anniversary of Fr. Rolly last December 5. Immediately after enjoying the splendid lunch and consuming the entire merchandise of the ice cream vendor, we drove to the heart of Laguna to savor the warms of one of the resorts - a neat and very private place where we could be ourselves.

Aside from the first profession, a traditional initial ritual is needed before one becomes an official member of the scholasticate community.  In my case it happened during the outing – six months after I joined the community.  It was a test of strength and willpower and of how much I know each member. Luckily, my six month stay was not in vain. The night culminated with the exciting BINGO game as each one tried his luck in garnering prizes. On the following day after the celebration of the Eucharist, the community headed back for home.

Taize Orientation

On December 10 at 8:00 PM sharp, religious sisters and brothers of different congregations gathered in the Pastoral Center auditorium for the orientation on the Taize meeting to be held from February 3 to 7, 2010 at Don Bosco Technical Institute.  Bro. John, one of the Taize brothers, conducted the orientation about the meeting which has for its theme “Pilgrimage of Trust.” He presented a video about the Taize community in France and past pilgrimages. There was also a special and unexpected guest from Korea who gave her testimony on how the pilgrimage changed her life. We hope we would be able to join this time!

Religious Christmas Party

The scholastics joined the Christmas party of the religious on December 7. It started with the celebration of the Eucharist presided by Fr. Rolly.  The devotional renewal of vows took place also.  It was an inspiring occasion to see all the religious lined-up and renewing their promise to God. Dinner followed after the Mass. The night was highlighted by the exchange of gifts and again, by the never-dying Bingo. Most of the prizes (courtesy of Fr. Ivo and Bro. Paul) went to the scholastics and novices. It was indeed a joyful celebration not only for those who won several times but for every one as he experienced the gift of brotherhood.

Merry Christmas!
