Scholastics before the renewal…
To prepare for their renewal of vows, the scholastics, coming back from their summer apostolate and summer vacation, had their four-day renewal course, which began on May 14 and ended on the 17th. The course consisted of inputs from several speakers. On the first day Fr. Rolly Fernandez MI shared his experiences concerning lay collaboration. On the second day Fr. Renante Sentillas MI gave a talk on the evangelical counsels. Spirituality was the topic on the third day with Fr. Bong Pamintuan MI as resource speaker. Finally on the last day, Fr. Evan Villanueva MI shared his insights about community life. The scholastics found the course highly informative, formative, and enjoyable. It also helped them re-enter community life after the long summer activities. After the renewal course the scholastics set-off for Tagaytay to begin their five day retreat, which will prepare them spiritually for the renewal. Isko’s Family Day 2009On May 28, three days before the renewal of vows, the parents of Filipino scholastics from different parts of the country went to the scholasticate to join Kapamilyan 2009 (Katuwang ang Pamilya sa Pagkakamilya) or Parents’ Day. The three day activity aimed to highlight the parents’ important role in the formation of their sons. The activity started with the scholastics introducing their parents to the community during dinner on the 28th. The next day the parents listened to Tatay Steve (St. Camillus MedHaven), Nanay Yolly (Boso-Boso), and Ma’am Josie (Scholasticate Staff) as they talked about their own experience and understanding of who the Camillians are. Afterwards, the scholastics and their parents spent time sharing with one another their happiest and saddest memories in the family. This session was facilitated by Mrs. Flora. On the second day, the parents and the scholastics continued sharing their experiences in small groups. This encounter between parents and sons culminated on May 31, with the parents witnessing the perpetual profession of one scholastic and the renewal of vows of thirteen others. |
