Balugo Baloney
Written by Fr. Tom Welu, MI

A Blessed and Happy Easter to all the Baloney readers.  Without Christ’s resurrection all of us would have been duped.  It’s refreshing to know we have someone we can trust.  That’s a rare commodity in the world today.

Here in Balugo we are gearing up for our fiesta on April 5, honoring St. Vincent Ferrer, O.P.  We are having a double celebration: Palm Sunday and our fiesta begins with the blessing of palms followed by 9:00 A.M. Mass, baptisms and then, of course plenty to eat and drink (my favorite beverage – milk?).  It’s a nice break from the austerity of Lent.

The Fourth Sunday of Lent, during the month of March, we invited the ‘Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life’ to present their program.

Presently there are two ‘Couples for Christ’ groups – one split from the other.  The original group became social work and social justice oriented and received operating funds from companies manufacturing and promoting contraceptives.  The Vatican said this group had to stop getting money from these companies but I don’t know if they complied.

Here in Balugo, we are interested in evangelizing the people (only 150-200 persons out of 2,500 residents of Balugo attend Sunday Mass).  This evangelizing focus is promoted by the CCFL.  Of course, there are a lot of promises from both groups but action is what we want.

Here’s a question to ponder – How about ‘Pac Man’ (respector of contracts and not greedy) and ‘Nicole’ (a teller of truth personified) running for the senate?  Would they fit right in?

Moral issues – Baby killer Super Obama has done it again.  He signed into law a bill approving federal funding for unlimited stem cell research.  He’s not only promoting the killing of babies but now he’s also promoting the creation of human lives and then killing them to use for ‘research.’  Didn’t some guy in the 40’s from Austria do that sort of thing?  Of course, all of it was done for the benefit of mankind.  How’s that for baloney?

Until next month, Fr.Tom Welu, MI.
