Balugo Baloney
Written by Fr. Tom Welu, MI

A Happy and Blessed New Year to all the faithful readers of the Baloney.  May God and His guidance be with you all during 2009.

What a great Christmas party we had at the Provincial House at Quezon City.  Food was excellent and so were the drinks to wash it down.  Thanks Fr. Ivo for a fine and enjoyable time.

Boy, was I lucky at our exchange of gifts.  I received from Fr. Freddie a beautiful gift from Rome – a gold plated holder.  For taking communion to the sick.  Thanks Freddie!

Here in Balugo the Misa de Gallo was a huge success.  Every morning during the nine days preceding Christmas the chapel was overflowing with worshippers and a few Catholic dogs.  The biggest attendance ever.  Of course, that brought many gifts of food and my favorite beverage – milk?  God was good to us – we had no rain to dampen the spirit and attendance at the Masses.

Lots of parties here at Balugo and also the Bishop of Dumaguete gave a Christmas bash for all the priests.  The food, booze and gifts were first class.

Christmas day I went to the Captain’s house of Balugo for a nice lunch and of course my favorite beverage.

Here’s a question to ponder and try to explain:  Why is the media (TV, ads, newspapers) not mentioning a word about the U.S. President elect Obama’s total support for nation wide abortion and his willingness to let babies of botched abortions receive no medical care – resulting in their death?

My New Years resolution is to not watch TV news anymore.  Why?  Because it is mostly negative and presents only the sordid side of life here in the Philippines and in the world.

Pac-man for President in 2010!  How’s that for baloney!

Until next month,

Fr. Tom Welu, MI
