Written by Sch. John Paul Alvarado, MI

Last December 5, 2008, the student council of Maryhill School of Theology (MST), which is composed mostly of Camillian scholastics, conducted a feeding program for street children in Tandang Sora, Quezon City. This is part of the promotion of the missionary dimension of MST.

Fr. Evan Paul Villanueva, MI and Fr Boy Guinit, MI, our scholasticate formators, made their devotional renewal of vows on the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The community witnessed their devotional renewal, which was included in the vespers and the lighting of the second candle on the Advent wreath.

Heartfelt congratulations to the Ephphatha batch for finishing their CPE program last December 10, 2008.  Included in this batch are Camillian scholastics Bernardus Busa, Placido de Jose, Kris Djawa,  Avensius Harung, Alfons Oles  and Marven Ruyeras.    The CPE program participants celebrated the culmination of their course with the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Ivo Anselmi, MI, Provincial Superior of the Philippine Province, and with a bountiful fellowship afterwards.

From December 11 to 14, scholastics Rodolfo Cancino, Brian Vincent Rances, and John Paul Alvarado were in Tagaytay facilitating a retreat for the grade 6 and 4th year students of Escuela de San Lorenzo.  The retreat was held in the serene setting of Betania Retreat House run by the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM).

Finally, the scholastics had their outing for this year in Bato-Bato Laguna. But this was not just an outing; it was part of our Christmas celebration. We shared moments of bountiful fellowship. We talked. We laughed. We danced. We exchanged gifts. We played bingo. In short, we celebrated with joy and love in our hearts as a community.

May the joy and love we have continue to blaze as we end this fruitful and meaningful year and as we face the challenges ahead of us in the coming year.

A Merry Love-filled Christmas and a Happy Bountiful New Year to all!
