“THE ROSARY IS A VERY POPULAR PRAYER recited by the Catholic faithful, either individually or in groups. The Rosary, if recited properly while meditating on the mysteries, together with the effort to live out their message in our lives, is a wonderful means of spiritual growth”. (Splendor of the Rosary, pages 1 & 3)
For the whole month of October, the Chaplaincy
Office together with the Lay Camillian Family of Davao spearheaded the
recitation of the Holy Rosary in the different offices and wards of the
hospital and even at the Center for Health and Development office of
the Department Of Health XI, adjacent to DMC. The Marian devotion
culminated in the afternoon of October 30, 2008.
The closing day started with the showing of a film
about Our Lady of Lourdes at the Chapel of the Divine Healer. The
recitation of the Holy Rosary followed. Some DMC personnel, watchers
of patients, and devotees participated in the activity. The Divine
Healer Choir took the lead in singing different Marian songs.
Afterwards, a hearty snack prepared by the Chaplain was shared at the
Chaplaincy Office.
“The family that prays together stays together.”
This is also true of the family in a larger sense – any group or
nation. In fact, “A world at prayer is a world at peace.” (Fr.
Patrick Peyton) We hope that our October devotion has contributed to
the fulfillment of Fr. Peyton’s teachings – families staying together
and a world at peace.
