Calbayog Corner
Written by Sch. Alfons Oles, MI

Brother Santa Claus has left the town.

For these few months of stay in the community of Calbayog, I had the chance to live with our older religious. We were four in the beginning, Bro. Angelino. Fr. Luigi, Fr. James and me. It is wonderful to have them in the community. But now we are only two in the community. Last August 07, 2008, Fr. Luigi left for vacation in Italy and on the same day Bro. Angelino bid goodbye to the community because he was going back to Italy. After spending almost thirty years of ministry in the Philippines, Bro. Angelino, often called Santa Claus by the children, returned to his motherland (but I pray that he will be back…).
The Province is grateful for having such a committed religious like. Till the last day of his stay, he was still doing his responsibility in the community, even taking care of chicken, ducks and pigs. Let us pray for his good health.

Fr. Aris visited the community

Few years ago, Fr. Aris was assigned in the community of Calbayog and now he is here for vacation. When he visited Calbayog, it was not for vacation because he spent quality time in assisting the community and hospital. He assisted in the planning for the outreach program of the hospital. Thank you Padre. Come again.

Chip

Our Camillian Health Insurance (CHIP) is moving well. Several times in a week, the one in-charge visits the different Barangays in order to promote this program and to educate the people about the benefits of Philhealth. We hope to reach out to more people especially to poor families who have less or no access to health care services. We thank all the people who dedicate their time, talent, resources and energy to make this program realizable.

Friends of the sick

Friends of the Sick in Calbayog is revitalizing its outreach program. Every third Saturday of the month, the group is visiting the Calbayog City Jail. Last August 23, we had a beautiful experience with the prisoners. The activity was simple. We had Mass and afterwards we had a group sharing and followed by simple snacks. The group expressed their willingness to continue this program.
