Balugo Baloney
Written by Fr. Tom Welu, MI

Guess what?  The problem is number 1 again.  The problem is the “honor” comes from being the most corrupt country in Asia.  Of course this is denied by those in power.  Guess, being number 1 in something is better than being number 1 in nothing except boxing and singing.  How’s that for baloney!

Been trying to think of something positive to write about but that’s hard to find these days.

The barangay captain here riding a motorcycle received minor injuries when he hit a bicycle and fell on the cement.  The accident resulted in a bad cut on his foot and he is unable to walk until it heals.  Those motorcycles are sure dangerous.  Not much protection riding them especially if you hit a car or truck.  Keep those helmets on.

A number of men from Balugo go to Palawan on fishing boats to dive for fish.  Just recently one guy died while diving for fish from one of the boats.  Seems that his air supply was cut off.  That’s the second death of a diver from here.  Bet there is no safety checks by the undermanned coast guard or other authorities.

Here’s some positive thoughts.  We have novices again!  That’s great news and I hope and pray that God gives us many more.

Here’s a question to think about and ponder:   Is the moral and economic mess the world is in the direct result of ignoring God’s commandments?  Here’s an example of the disregard of God’s teaching.  The States of California and Massachusetts now allow people of the same sex to get married.  How’s that for baloney!  There is a positive result though – it’s a good method of birth control.  Will we ever learn?

Recently read that elementary and high school enrollment is down.  Just costs too much for the poor to send their sons and daughters to school.  On that sad note…

Until next month,
Fr. Tom Welu, MI.
