“We will have greetings tonight. Tuloy-tuloy tayo (we will run the show without interruptions),” said Dr. Love to the technical assistant. Looking pleased with what he had just ordered, he smiled at us and declared, “Ganun kahalaga ang ating pag-uusapan ngayon (That’s how important our present topic is).”
Personally captivated by the initial information we fed him, Dr. Love made sure that the succeeding discussion in his program would be a spirited one. Sure enough, with St. Camillus de Lellis as the main topic of his show that night, our conversation on air went great and well-received by his avid fans. By the way, the famous Dr. Love is Bro. Jun Banaag, OP, a member of the Third Order of the Dominican congregation. He hosts on weekdays the 10-11 PM Dr. Love show over DZMM TeleRadyo (owned by the Philippines’ giant broadcasting network ABS-CBN), a datascreen-format cable TV channel broadcasting a simulcast of the AM radio station DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, as well as a live video feed of the radio booth itself. [We were viewed around the world because DZMM TeleRadyo is aired internationally through The Filipino Channel (TFC)!] So there we were – Fr. Mar C. Ladra, a diocesan priest from Bulacan (a former Camillian) now passionately propagating the devotion to St. Camillus in his parish through its Healing Masses, Indonesian Sch. Cyrelus Suparman Andi, MI and this writer – on the very feast day of St. Camillus last 14 July, telling Dr. Love, the Philippines and the whole world about the Patron Saint of the sick, hospitals, doctors, nurses and healthcare workers. We shared about St. Camillus’ life, his charism, the congregation he founded (that’s us, Ministers of the Infirm!), his exemplary love for the sick, his revolutionary accomplishments in the healthcare world from the late 16th to the early 17th century, his uncorrupted heart and, of course, his disciple Camillians in the Philippines. At the conclusion of our uninterrupted interview, Fr. Mar, using the relic of St. Camillus that he brought to the studio, prayed over the sick who were viewing the show and asked God for their healing and wellness. SPECIAL NOTE: As a result of our guesting at Dr. Love’s program, our Scholasticate Director Fr. Evan Paul A. Villanueva, got busy the next day answering quite a number of phone calls. The calls were mostly from persons battling with sickness inquiring about the relic of the Saint of the Sick. PERSONAL NOTE: To Dr. Love (who’s such a nice person that’s why he has a nice voice!) and staff, thank you very much for your wonderful reception. Sabi n’yo ‘yun, ha, next time uli, hehehe! And to the Camillian by heart Fr. Mar, thanks a lot for the privilege you shared with us (that was seeing and talking with Dr. Love in person and being broadcasted worldwide at the same time, hehehe!). The delightful once in a lifetime experience we had in the show will forever be treasured in our hearts! May our merciful Lord, with the intercession of St. Camillus, continue to bestow upon you good health and more blessings! |
