Another healthcare center in honor of St. Camillus opens in Taiwan

The Ministers of the Infirm of the Taiwan Delegation celebrated this year’s feast of St. Camillus with the joyful opening of the St. Camillus Long-term Care Center for the elderly in Sanshing Hsian, Ilan County.  The blessing of the center took place at 9:00am.  Government officials and benefactors graced the occasion, sharing the joy of having in Taiwan another facility that can provide a home for 120 elderly residents.

Philippine Province celebrates the diaconal ordination of first Indonesian religious

The dream to have Indonesian vocations began when Fr. Luigi and some Camillian priests visited Indonesia in the late 1990s to explore possibilities of planting the Camillian seed there.   That dream unfolded little by little as some young Indonesian postulants in a diocesan seminary in Flores expressed their deep desire and willingness to join the Order.  Since the main concern was for them to undergo Camillian formation, the first group of Indonesians had to leave their homeland to undergo formation in the Philippines.  On May 5, 2000 seven young Indonesians arrived in the country.

Diaconal ordination highlights feast day celebration in Mati

A doubly joyful celebration took place at St. Camillus Hospital of Mati last July 14.  The Mati community celebrated not only the feast of St. Camillus de Lellis but also the diaconal ordination of Rev. Marven Ruyeras, MI. A solemn Mass officiated by Most. Rev. Patricio H. Alo, DD, Bishop of Mati, was held at the Divine Mercy Shrine.  Rev. George Cajes served as deacon and Fr. Bernard Albao as master of ceremonies.  The Mass began at 9:30 am.  Fr. Ivo Anselmi, Provincial Superior, Fr. Gabby Garcia, Fr. Tex Buntol, Fr. Boy Guinit, Fr. Nato Maliwat, Fr. Bong Pamintuan and Fr. Angel Crisostomo were present as concelebrants.

CTF conference held in Madrid

The Camillian Task Force (CTF Central) held a six-day conference at the Centro di Humanizacion (a Camillian pastoral center) in Madrid, Spain from July 9-15. The conference was hosted by the Spanish Province. Participants from Kenya, Italy, Spain and the Philippines (represented by Aris Miranda) joined the conference and shared their accomplishments and future plans for the promotion of the CTF mission.  Most of the participants were our lay collaborators.

SCH-Calbayog marks its 13th anniversary

TRESE NA KAMI!  These words capture the spirit of this year’s celebration of the anniversary of St. Camillus Hospital – Calbayog.  Imagine, it’s been thirteen years that this hospital has been of service to the poor sick of Calbayog City and the nearby municipalities.  That’s really a great achievement!

Leadership Training

The St. Camillus College seminarians participated in a leadership training seminar facilitated by an NGO called Team Lubid Incorporated.  The newly admitted seminarians attended the seminar on June 24-25, while the ‘old’ ones on June 26-27.  The training focused on team building which highlighted the discovery of one’s capabilities in the midst of challenges.

St. Camillus Feast Day: Advance Celebration

The St. Camillus Polyclinic, Antipolo commemorated the feast day of St. Camillus in advance.  We celebrated it last July 11 because one of our formators was leaving for Davao the next day to attend the diaconal ordination of Bro. Marven Ruyeras, M.I.  In addition, the novices were going to attend their first modular classes in Exodus on the feast day itself.

Despedidas

Two of the brothers who are in pastoral year enjoyed their last moments with us through separate simple farewell celebrations before they left our community for their assignments. On the eve of June 25, Sch. Placido de Jose was sent to the ‘hot seat’ to hear the warm messages of the members of the community. Wishes, hopes, prayers and even warnings were their ‘pabaon’. The day after, he left for Calbayog.

Eucharistic Lay Ministers’ Monthly Fellowship

Last June 26, 2009 the Lay Ministers had their first fellowship night at the chaplaincy office.  The group is composed of committed Eucharistic Lay ministers who willingly devote their time in serving the Chapel of the Divine Healer and the Davao Medical Center, as well. It has been noticed that they are also playing a special role in assisting our lone chaplain, especially in the distribution of Holy Communion during the celebration of the Holy Mass and in the different wards of the hospital.

Year for Priests

In view of Pope Benedict XVI’s proclamation of the “Year for Priests,” the Ñuestra dela Annunciata Parish holds a daily novena to the Sacred Heart for the intention of priests throughout the world. The first Friday vigil and the first Saturday vigil are also observed as prayers for priests. These prayer services were mandated by the Diocese of Antipolo.

Schedule of activities in Essen:


July 8 (Wednesday)

At 3:00pm, a special Mass for the sick and elderly was celebrated in St. Camillus Church with Fr. Manny Tamayo as the main celebrant and Fr. Jörg Gabriel as concelebrant. A good number of attendees from Paul Hannig Heim and Augustinus (both are homes for the aged) attended the celebration. During the celebration, the sacrament of Holy Anointing was administered. Afterwards, everybody gathered in the Parish Hall for cakes and coffee.
