HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HIGHLANDS: Boso-Boso in the limelight
Written by Sch. Dan Cancino, Jr., MI

We usually leave St. Camillus Scholasticate in Loyola Heights every Saturday at 4PM bound for Boso-Boso. My brother and I enjoy the trip to the mountains of Antipolo. We like riding the fast and furious jeepneys of Cogeo or Padilla that emit ear-busting sounds. Then we get off at Gate 2 and take another jeepney bound for Boso-Boso, usually filled with people carrying supplies they have bought in the market. When we reach the “kanto” (corner) we notice that all the tricycle drivers are wearing their jackets…. At this point we begin to feel the cool breeze in the mountains of Boso-Boso. But amidst the cool weather, the community of Nuestra Señora dela Anunciata Parish burns with zeal as they prepare for the Christmas season.

Balugo Baloney
Written by Fr. Tom Welu, MI

A Blessed Christmas and a joy filled New Year to you all!

The “award winning” writings of all the news fit and not fit to print – the Baloney – is back.

While in the U.S.  I was able to cover the recent presidential election up to the fateful conclusion. The Americans have elected as president a promoter of baby killing.  Why do I say this?  Because he is pro-abortion and four times as senator voted against providing medical care to babies who survived a botched abortion.  He was in favor of just putting the baby in a corner and letting him/her die.

Morality and God have been ejected from the American culture.  Other examples: two states allow mercy killing and another two states allow marriage between couples of the same sex.

There are still many good moral people in the U.S. but they are a minority.

You can’t throw out God and His commandments and expect to survive.

Divine Healer Choir Turns One

The Divine Healer Choir serving the DMC Chapel celebrated its first founding anniversary last November 9, 2008.   A thanksgiving Mass presided over by Fr. Tex Buntol, MI, the choir’s spiritual assistant, highlighted the celebration.  After the Mass, a sumptuous lunch was served at the healing garden of DMC, followed by a very entertaining program by the choir.

This Divine Healer Choir is composed of students and young professionals, mostly from the neighborhood of DMC.  With their singing, they enliven the celebration of Sunday and weekday Masses. Sunday Masses are celebrated as “Misa Cantada.”

To hone their singing skills, they recently hired a trainer from Himig Davao, who is now enthusiastically teaching them how to read notes.

To the Divine Healer Choir, congratulations! May you continue to uplift the spirit of the faithful by sharing your God-given talent with everyone.  To God always be the glory!
